The fall 2026 issue of Fresno State Magazine began hitting mailboxes on Oct. 26 – reaching alumni and friends across the Central Valley, throughout the United States and overseas. The issue is also available online at today.fresnostate.edu/magazine.
As the largest city in the United States within just over an hour’s drive of three national parks – Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia – Fresno is nationally known for national parks. For Fresno State students, that means access to some of the most unique class, research and leisure experiences surrounding any college campus in the world. This issue features some insight into the opportunities Fresno State students can take advantage of, whether it’s a long-planned trip or a spontaneous adventure, and highlights how the university is building lasting relationships with tribal nations.
The magazine also celebrates Fresno State’s rise to the Pac-12 Conference, taking a nostalgic look back at the conferences the Bulldogs have competed in historically, while profiling Pac-12 rivals old and new with fun facts and figures. Plus, a photo essay shares many of the university’s Pac-12 firsts to kick off the season. See the Bulldog Spirit section to reveal the little-known tale of Bulldog lore behind the large Block F on the berm on the outside of Valley Children’s Stadium near Barstow Avenue.
Fresno State Magazine also shares the inspiring American dream of alumnus Jay Gill, whose entrepreneurial spirit has led to 12 car dealerships, a real estate development business, a farming operation and banking ventures.
Alumnus and military veteran Nathan Tomshack shares a personal story of how his education and work experience at the Fresno Family Counseling Center equipped him with the ability to answer the call for a fellow veteran who was experiencing a mental health crisis.
Also featured is the story of Dr. Vicky Tilton, who is using her extensive experience in nursing and administration at Valley Children’s Healthcare to educate nursing students in the classroom at Fresno State.
Online viewers will be treated to a video and photo feature on Rubi Pastrano, an international student from Ecuador who is well on her way to a career in construction management.
Fresno State Magazine is published annually by University Marketing and Communications at Fresno State. The magazine reaches over 100,000 alumni and friends via the print and electronic editions.
