The campus and the public are welcome to a Transgender Day of Remembrance event 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, which will provide a safe space to raise awareness, encourage acceptance, and memorialize transgender lives that were cut short due to murder or suicide this past year.
The free event at the Satellite Student Union will feature keynote speaker Ash Perez, a TV writer, author and entertainer living in Los Angeles. The former BuzzFeed personality produces and stars in the online TV series “New Guy Tries,” which catalogues his experience discovering masculinity as a trans man.
Fresno State LGBTQ+ Programs and Services, the campus Cross Cultural and Gender Center, Trans-E-Motion, and the Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies Department are organizing the event.
Pre-Registration is required and will close when capacity is reached. All university programs and activities are open and available to all, regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.
