Fresno State’s University Marketing and Communications team won several awards this past year for the university magazine, website design, social media strategy and videos.
The Circle of Excellence awards from the Council of Advancement and Support of Education recognize exceptional achievement in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing. Here are the winning entries:
- Fresno State Today, bronze award in marketing/micro-sites.
- Putting the Ag in Swag, bronze award in design/specialty pieces for the ag-themed football jersey design.

The Central California Public Relations Society of America Image Awards honor works of distinction by Central Valley professionals working in public relations, communications, marketing and advertising. The winning entries are:
- Fresno State Magazine, Project Award — magazine.
- Fresno State Today, Project Award – webpage/website.
The California Association of Public Information Officials Excellence in Public Information and Communications Awards honor outstanding public agency communication and marketing campaigns. The winning entries are:
- A Social First Strategy, Social Media Best Use Overall – Project Budget: Under $5,000.
- A Social First Strategy, Best in Show – Project Budget: Under $5,000.
The American Advertising Awards is the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition which recognizes the creative spirit of excellence in advertising. The winning entries are:
- “Pride of the Valley,” gold internet commercial.
- “Pride of the Valley,” Best of Film, Video and Sound, internet commercial — single spot.
University Marketing and Communications also received two Emmy nominations in the San Francisco/Northern California region for the following videos:
- “Pride of the Valley,” long form promotional spot.
- “A Planetarium Is a Place of Wonder,” education/schools — news or short form content.
