Fall/winter 2025 issue of Fresno State Magazine available now

The new issue of Fresno State Magazine began hitting mailboxes on Dec. 10 – reaching alumni and friends across the Central Valley, throughout the United States and overseas. The fall/winter 2025 issue is also available online at today.fresnostate.edu/magazine.

This issue features a cover story sharing 20 ways Fresno State is the Pride of the Valley. The university has been dubbed the Pride of the Valley for decades, but for the first time Fresno State Magazine explores many of the ways Fresno State embodies the mantra. From rising up the national rankings academically to competing with the nation’s best on the playing field, the magazine details the pride points that make Fresno State alumni and fans proud. Just in time to brag to family and friends over the holidays, readers will learn about successful businesspeople who have graduated from Fresno State, successful alumni in Hollywood and major pro athletes. See 20 reasons Fresno State is the Pride of the Valley.

The magazine also features a fun, “Where’s Waldo?” style cover giving readers a chance to uncover familiar caricatures associated with Fresno State pride points. As an added bonus, readers will find an exclusive Pride of the Valley sticker available inside the print issue of the magazine. A full sticker pack, with additional designs, are available for purchase at the Kennel Marketplace and the Kennel Bookstore.

This issue also features a story defining the Valley footprint – ‘where the palm meets the pine’ – with help from faculty experts. Plus, learn about the new LaunchPad program and meet some of the participating first-generation Bulldog Bound students coming from nearby school districts.

Several of the university’s generous donors are featured, including Jami Hamel De La Cerda of Diamond Learning Center, who recently donated $1 million in support of Fresno State football. Learn more about how her experience as a Fresno State student and her passion for special education have driven her to give back in support of her alma mater. This issue also features an exclusive Q&A with new Bulldogs softball coach Charlotte Morgan, who outlines her vision for the program steeped in history and tradition.

In the Alumni Connections section, readers will learn about Manuel Olgin, the co-founder of the Chicano/Latino Commencement Celebration. Olgin recently voiced Fresno State’s new TV commercial featuring the Pride of the Valley. Plus, get to know alumnus Michael Cruz of Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Co., which launched the Red Wave Light Lager last year.

Other highlights include the Bulldog Spirit section featuring alumni Freddy and Leslie Rau, avid Red Wavers whose first date was a Bulldogs football game. See photos of the Bulldog room in the couple’s home.

Readers can also get an inside look at another cool course in the latest in a series of Course Spotlight videos, this time featuring Construction Management 19L – Integrated Construction Lab.
