The Associated Collegiate Press named The Collegian, Fresno State’s student-run news organization, as a finalist in the multiplatform and newspaper/newsmagazine categories. As a finalist, it joins other notable higher-education publications such as The Harvard Crimson, The Pepperdine Graphic and UCLA’s Daily Bruin.
The newspaper/newsmagazine category evaluates two complete print issues from the 2025-26 academic year, weighing coverage, writing, editing, design and photography. In the multiplatform category, judges look at print, online, email newsletters, social media and audio/video offerings. Judges reward publications that take risks and serve as a strong voice for students.
For the 2025-26 academic year, students Jazmin Alvarado and Isaac Marquez served stints as editor-in-chief, and Donald Munro served as faculty adviser. The award winners will be announced at the Fall National College Media Convention in November. The Collegian publishes four print editions per semester, and the website is updated daily.
