Coolest classes on campus featured in new issue of Fresno State Magazine

A new issue of Fresno State Magazine began hitting mailboxes on June 26 – reaching alumni and friends across the Central Valley, throughout the United States and across the globe. The spring/summer 2025 issue is also available online at today.fresnostate.edu/magazine, as part of Fresno State’s new storytelling hub.

This issue features a cover story on “Classes So Cool, They Could Be a YouTube Series,” a fun story highlighting some of the most unique courses on campus and promoting the “Course Spotlight” YouTube series. The courses highlighted include “Bee Biology and Apiculture,” “Dairy Processing,” “Sport and Entertainment Facility Operations,” “Sensory Evaluation,” and “Puppetry.” Some of Fresno State’s coolest courses will continue to be highlighted in future magazine issues.

The new issue also includes an exclusive Q&A with new Fresno State football coach Matt Entz, who reveals his vision for the Bulldogs in their final year of Mountain West play and in the future in the Pac-12. Entz also discusses his recruiting strategy and talks about how alumni and fans can help position the program for the future.

Also inside this issue are features on alumni like Joseph “Jay” Ventress, a U.S. Navy veteran who recently participated in Central Valley Honor Flight, and Amelia DiPaola Robinson, a former Fresno State track and field standout who was a finalist for NCAA Woman of the Year and is now pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine.

Fresno State Magazine features programs and initiatives like the street medicine clinic and the Degrees of Change program, using education to help transform lives behind bars. Readers will also enjoy a story on students and alumni reflecting on 50 years since the Southeast Asian migration and a story about a child and family science student following her parents’ footsteps to pursue a counseling career.

Plus, did you know Fresno State awarded 25 research doctoral degrees and spent $11.4 million on research expenditures in the 2022-23 academic year?

Fresno State Magazine is published twice per year by University Marketing and Communications at Fresno State. The magazine reaches over 100,000 alumni and friends via the print and electronic editions.
