CalCPA celebrates Fresno State Beta Alpha Psi; offers scholarships to accounting students

Fresno State’s Beta Alpha Psi Gamma Omicron chapter was celebrated on Nov. 20 for winning the KPMG Platinum Challenge within Beta Alpha Psi earlier this fall.

Beta Alpha Psi is an international honor society and professional organization for students and professionals in accounting, finance and information systems. The organization honored the Fresno State chapter at its annual meeting in San Antonio in August, recognizing the student group for its outstanding innovation and community service.

As a KPMG Platinum Challenge winner, the chapter is now among the top 5% of Beta Alpha Psi chapters worldwide. The chapter will receive $3,000 from CalCPA, to support ongoing programming and community engagement.

CalCPA is the largest state CPA society in the country, representing and supporting certified public accountants and related professionals in California. CalCPA hosted the chapter’s celebration in Fresno alongside Fresno State’s Craig School of Business.

“This milestone reflects the dedication and excellence of our current members and the lasting impact of our alumni, whose support and achievements continue to inspire us,” the chapter said via Instagram. “We are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate together and strengthen the bonds across generations of our chapter.”

CalCPA scholarships for accounting students

CalCPA has a scholarship program that is accepting applications from students through the end of the year. Scholarship recipients may be awarded up to $7,500.

This scholarship program is part of a larger effort on behalf of CalCPA “to engage and support future accounting professionals.” CalCPA has also helped modernize the CPA licensure requirements and worked closely with colleges and universities to provide:

  • Mentorship and professional development.
  • Hands-on volunteer experiences.
  • Direct exposure to career pathways in accounting and finance.

Students can learn more about CalCPA and become members of the organization here. Membership is free for students and required to qualify for CalCPA scholarships.
