Public invited to sign up for healthy shopping tours

Students and the community can RSVP to learn about the importance of fruits and vegetables at Bulldogs in the Grocery Store tours through Tuesday, Dec. 9 at the Save Mart at 5750 N. First St. in Fresno.

The free, one-hour sessions will teach attendees about nutrition and cooking tips for fresh produce, dried, canned, frozen and juice products.

Fresno State nutrition and dietetic students will host the eight-person tours that include budgeting tips and a chance to buy a cookbook created by students for $5.

Dr. Lisa Herzig, director of the Fresno State dietetics and food administration program, oversees the program, which was funded by a $5,000 grant from the Produce for Better Health Foundation.
