Self-driving vehicles make stop at Fresno State

The Fresno State Transportation Institute will host Autonomy in Motion in collaboration with Tesla from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 15. The event will feature interactive exhibits and hands-on STEM activities near the speaker’s platform, as well as live demonstrations of autonomous vehicles in lot P31 (next the Resnick Student Union).

Different Tesla models will be on display in lot P31, including the Model S, 3, X, Y and Cybertruck; in addition to two other vehicles near the speaker’s platform. Attendees will have the opportunity to ride-along in Tesla vehicles operated by trained Tesla employees. The vehicles will navigate through pre-approved routes on campus, giving riders firsthand experience of full self-driving technology.

Event organizers say the goal of Autonomy in Motion is to showcase how innovation, automation and sustainability intersect in modern transportation; and to encourage future careers in transportation, engineering, AI and mobility. The event is free and open to the public.

Representatives from the Transportation Institute and Tesla will be available for questions or comments.
