Fresno State is tied at No. 37 in U.S. News and World Report’s 2027 Best Colleges rankings for social mobility, the category that recognizes colleges and universities for how well they help students improve their socioeconomic status through educational opportunities.
The university also ranked nationally in several programs: tied at No. 11 for computer engineering non-doctorate, tied at No. 15 for civil engineering non-doctorate, tied at No. 18 for electrical and electronic engineering non-doctorate and tied at No. 44 for undergraduate engineering non-doctorate. The university also tied at No. 110 for top national public school.
In August, Fresno State ranked No. 11 among all public and private schools nationwide in the 2026 Best Colleges for your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars ranking from Washington Monthly and No. 3 among the best universities in the West for helping middle- and working-class students get ahead economically and become good citizens.
