The Maddy Institute will host its 25th anniversary celebration from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at The Red Room at Pardini’s.
For 25 years, The Maddy Institute has been dedicated to providing students with opportunities to engage in public service, increasing civic engagement and elevating key policy issues in the San Joaquin Valley. The Maddy Institute is a nonpartisan, nonprofit public policy institute for the San Joaquin Valley that provides a venue for thoughtful discussions on important public policy issues facing the San Joaquin Valley, California and the nation. Nearly 600 Valley students have participated in the institute’s internship programs, gaining hands-on experience and going on to distinguished careers.
This milestone celebration reflects on the impact of the institute’s alumni, the growth of its programs and the vision of leaders like Congressman Jim Costa, who helped shape the institute’s mission and established the Jim Costa Washington, D.C. Legislative Internship Program.
“Over the last 25 years, The Maddy Institute has grown into a cornerstone for public policy and civic engagement in the region thanks to the support of our partner universities, community colleges, government leaders, donors, and local partners,” said Blake Zante, executive director of The Maddy Institute and alumnus of the Jim Costa Washington, D.C. Legislative Internship Program. “Our internship programs are at the heart of our mission, and the investment in future Valley leaders moves our region forward. We are grateful to Congressman Jim Costa for his founding role in shaping The Maddy Institute’s mission.”
“Celebrating 25 years is not just about reflecting on our history, it is about recognizing the impact of every student, alumni and partner who has contributed to the institute’s work,” said Melissa Frank, chair of the institute’s board of directors and alumna of the institute’s Sacramento Legislative Internship Program. “Having interned for Congressman Costa when he served as a state senator, I understand how formative these experiences can be. My internship shaped my own path in public service and inspires my commitment to supporting the next generation of Valley leaders.”
In honor of this milestone, The Maddy Institute will present its Legacy Award to Costa in recognition of his leadership in shaping The Maddy Institute and his dedication to public service.
Tickets are available for purchase at $50. Sponsorship opportunities range from $500 to $5,000, with proceeds supporting The Maddy Institute’s mission of inspiring the next generation of leaders, increasing civic engagement and elevating policy issues in the San Joaquin Valley.
