Richter Center recognizes 13 with Spirit of Service Awards

Fresno State students, faculty, staff and community partners were honored at the Service Recognition Reception on April 29, hosted by University President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval.

The annual event recognizes the exemplary commitment to community engagement exhibited at Fresno State. For the past 16 years, the campus community has provided in excess of 1 million hours of service to the Central Valley each year.

Over 130 students were awarded a certificate from Jiménez-Sandoval for completing more than 100 hours of service this year. Also recognized were members of the Humanics program, Community Service Scholarship program, College Corps program, Associated Students Inc., the Scholars Service Grant program and the Richter Center Student Leaders program.

Thirteen individuals and organizations received awards for representing a special commitment to Fresno State’s community engagement and service-learning efforts:

  • Albert Montejano Memorial Scholarship: Aidan Boyles.
  • Albert Montejano Memorial Scholarship: Alisa Gonzalez.
  • Albert Montejano Memorial Scholarship: Emily Vang.
  • Albert Montejano Memorial Scholarship: Kelsey Ferreira.
  • College Corps Legend Award: Robert Abbate.
  • Don Romsa Community Partner Award: Exceptional Parents Unlimited.
  • Dr. Rich Berrett Award for Outstanding Service-Learning Faculty: Nicola Olsen.
  • Humanics Exemplar: Adamaris Rodriguez-Muro.
  • John D. Welty Award for Excellence in Community Service: Rubi Rivera.
  • Outstanding Staff/Faculty Award: Michael Ballin.
  • Paul DeRuosi Memorial Community Service Scholarship: Addison Fore-Vasquez.
  • Spirit of Service Award: Fresno State Alumni Association.
  • University Student Volunteer of the Year Award: Sophia Riser.
