Richter Center recognizes 12 with Spirit of Service awards

Fresno State students, faculty, staff and community partners were honored at the Service Recognition Reception on May 1, hosted by University President SaĂşl JimĂ©nez-Sandoval.  

Over 173 students were awarded a certificate from Jiménez-Sandoval for completing more than 100 hours of service this year. Also recognized were members of the Humanics program, Community Service Scholarship program, Jumpstart program, College Corps program, Associated Students Inc., the Scholars Service Grant program and the Richter Center Student Leaders program.

Spirit of Service award recipients

Twelve individuals and organizations received awards for representing a special commitment to Fresno State’s community engagement and service-learning efforts:

  • Don Romsa Community Partner Award: Fresno Unified Mentorship Program.
  • Spirit of Service Award: Project Rebound.
  • Outstanding Service-Learning Faculty: Cristal Tiscareno.
  • Outstanding Staff: Lerin Winchester.
  • John D. Welty Award for Excellence in Community Service: Kelsey Ferreira.
  • Humanics Exemplar: Bryan Olea Lua.
  • University Student Volunteer of the Year: Alisa Gonzale
  • College Corps Legend Award: Juan Reyes.
  • Jumpstart Exemplar: Lizbeth Rosales Ochoa.
  • Albert Montejano Memorial Scholarship: Celeste Jones.
  • Paul DeRuosi Memorial Scholarship: Sophia Riser.
  • Servant Leader Award: Chris Fiorentino.
