Pop-up store sells unique new items while teaching entrepreneurship

The Craig School of Business Pop-Up Shop, which debuted last year, will return with new unique student-designed items 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the “wheels off” walkway between the University Student Union and the University Center.

The pop-up shop is entirely managed and operated by students from the class Entrepreneurship 155E, “Managing the New Venture,” taught by Akhil Kanodia, clinical professor of practice in entrepreneurship at the Craig School.

This class teaches students entrepreneurship skills through creating and managing a working business. Kanodia’s students have managed every aspect of opening the pop-up shop, including designing original products, sourcing manufacturers and suppliers, setting prices, marketing and retail sales.

Kanodia said the class teaches fundamental concepts of entrepreneurship, grounded in the hands-on experiential learning of entrepreneurial work.

The pop-up shop will feature unique, limited-edition apparel and merchandise featuring fall and homecoming themes. The pop-up store will accept credit and debit card payments, but not cash.
