Fresno State is highlighted in the newly released book “Dream School: Finding the College That’s Right for You,” by New York Times bestselling author Jeffrey Selingo, who has written several books on college admissions. The book spotlights standout regional universities and identifies Fresno State as one of the “breakout regionals” gaining national attention for expanding access and improving student outcomes.
This recognition builds on Fresno State’s growing national profile as an institution committed to affordability, opportunity and social mobility. Earlier this year, Fresno State was ranked the No. 2 university nationwide in Washington Monthly’s list of “Best Colleges for Your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars.” The university also tied at No. 30 for social mobility in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 rankings, ranked No. 5 for social mobility in the Wall Street Journal, and placed No. 32 overall among 584 universities in the Journal’s national rankings.
