“Dr. Roberts shines through with hopeful energy that is both intentional and inviting; she furthermore brings a strong record of academic leadership and a clear commitment to student success,” said Fresno State President Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval. “Her experience advancing interdisciplinary programs, supporting faculty, elevating the profile of the university through research and development, and aligning academic offerings with workforce needs will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our academic mission.”
An experienced academic leader, Roberts is recognized for advancing student success initiatives, interdisciplinary innovation and program development. She has launched new academic programs, established a college-wide advising and student success center, and strengthened retention and graduation efforts. She is also an accomplished fundraiser, securing support for scholarships, faculty development and academic innovation.
“I am deeply honored and excited to join Fresno State,” Roberts said. “The university’s commitment to student success, community engagement and opportunity is inspiring, and I look forward to working alongside faculty, staff and students to build on that strong foundation.”
Roberts earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Maryville College, and both a master’s degree and doctorate in criminal justice from Washington State University. Her research focuses on victimology and social justice within the criminal justice system. She has also been actively engaged in community-based efforts addressing domestic violence and human trafficking.
