Hispanic Heritage Month starts Sept. 15 and runs through Oct. 15 to honor the history, culture and contributions of Americans with ancestors from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America. 

Fresno State will have a variety of events throughout the two months. All university programs and activities are open and available to all regardless of race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin.

Here is a list of campus events: 

Sept. 17: Cultura Collective, presented by the Student Success and Belonging Center and sponsored by Associated Students, Inc. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Gardens (lawn in front of the Kennel Bookstore). Celebrate the kickoff of Hispanic Heritage Month and the Latine culture with music from a live DJ, free aguas frescas and Hispanic Heritage Month shirts for students, while supplies last. Students can also connect with on- and off-campus organizations and resources at the resource fair. 

Sept. 22: La Bienvenida, presented by the Latino Faculty and Staff Association from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University Dining Hall. Faculty and staff are invited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at a luncheon. Contact: Latino Faculty and Staff Association, lfsamediafs@gmail.com.

Sept. 23: Baila Burn, presented by the Student Success and Belonging Center and the Student Recreation Center. Students are invited to join a salsa dancing class taught by a student instructor at 3:30 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center. Registration is required in the FusionGO app. 

Sept. 29: Noche De Cultura Night Market, presented by Spotlight Events from 5 to 9 p.m. on the south lawn of the Resnick Student Union. Students are invited to a night of food, product vendors, a mechanical bull and dancing with a 16-member band. Contact Spotlight Events, spotlightevents@mail.fresnostate.edu.

Oct. 6: Meet Your Pueblo, presented by the Student Success and Belonging Center from noon to 1 p.m. at the Resnick Student Union (Room 214). Students can decorate a mini piñata and enjoy a cup of aguas frescas, while supplies last.

Chicano and Latin American Studies 35th anniversary Student Art Contest, sponsored by the Chicano and Latin American Studies Department. Students are invited to create an original design, suitable for reproduction as a sticker, that commemorates the 35th anniversary of the Chicano and Latin American Studies Department. Designs should reflect the department’s identity, history, community or mission. Generative AI-created artwork will not be accepted. First place will receive a $150 Kennel Bookstore gift card.
