Panel focuses on voting officials, public service and careers

Experts will discuss how election officials ensure a safe and secure voting experience at an Election Hero Day panel from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Resnick Student Union (Room 105) at Fresno State.

On the panel, Dr. Lisa Bryant, a Fresno State political science professor, will join James Kus, Fresno County clerk and registrar of voters, and Dr. Paul Gronke, executive director of the Elections and Voting Information Center and a political science professor at Reed College.

Panelists will also discuss public service careers in election administration, the evolving election process and fostering civil discourse in times of hyper-partisanship. Students can also learn how to get involved in the upcoming elections.

Associated Students Inc., the Student Involvement Center and the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management are hosting the event, which includes free pizza for students.

Election Hero Day is a nonpartisan, national celebration recognizing the contributions of election staff and poll workers as they interact with the public and oversee various voting methods.
