Lifelong learners can sign up for priority registration at the fall catalog drop party and ice cream social from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 21, at the Kremen Education Building (Room 140) at Fresno State. Guests are required to RSVP online.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Fresno State provides engaging learning opportunities designed for those aged 50 and better — no homework, grades or exams.
New this fall, OLLI will introduce “Osher After Hours” to better serve lifelong learners who might still be working. Select courses will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m., making it easier to fit OLLI into busy schedules. Look for the moon icon in the fall catalog, which will be posted online soon.
A sneak peek at highlights from the fall catalog includes:
- Keynote speakers: anthropology professor Dr. Chelsey Juarez, political science professor Dr. Thomas Holyoke, and Bee culture reporter Joshua Tehee.
- Adventures: Reflect on the 25 years since the 9/11 terror attacks with a visit to the California 9/11 Memorial and Roger Rocka’s musical presentation of “Come from Away.”
- 32 in-person and online short courses.
The membership fee — $45 per person for the fall session — provides the following perks:
- Admission plus a guest pass to keynote presentations.
- An opportunity to enroll in all OLLI courses and adventures.
- Free parking for OLLI campus events.
- Updates about events happening at Fresno State.
- All OLLI members receive a Fresno State Library card good for the duration of that session.
Online registration opens to everyone at 8 a.m. Aug. 22, the day after the catalog drop party.
OLLI at Fresno State, on campus since 2005, is one of more than 120 OLLI programs nationwide, each connected to a host college or university. Members enjoy live and virtual classes, cultural events and flexible membership options designed to foster learning and connection.
