Students volunteer weekends to support local community

Fresno State students continue to make a positive impact in the community by volunteering their weekends through service initiatives organized by the Jan and Bud Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning.

Richter Center student leaders Yuna Ha and Aisley Chavez led a team of six students for a one-day service event on April 11 in partnership with the San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust. The event, titled River Center Garden Care Day, invited volunteers to spend a morning supporting the upkeep of the River Center’s gardens.

This service opportunity, also known as “Gardening Angels,” offered participants the chance to work alongside experienced gardeners while enjoying a peaceful outdoor environment.

Through events like this, Fresno State students demonstrate their ongoing commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship.
