Library exhibit explores significance of Ramadan, encourages interfaith understanding

The Fresno State Library will host its second Eid-themed exhibit, “Beyond Ramadan: The Heart of Fasting,” from March 2 through 23. Organized by the President’s Muslim Advisory Council and Fresno State librarians, the exhibit aims to educate the campus and community on the spiritual, cultural and communal significance of Ramadan.

This free exhibit highlights the values of fasting, prayer, reflection and charity that define the holiest month in Islam. The exhibit also celebrates the wide range of Muslim students at Fresno State, fostering inclusivity, interfaith dialogue and respect for religious traditions.

The displays, located on the library’s second-floor North Wing Concourse, will conclude with a pop-up tasting on March 23, during which traditional foods enjoyed after fasting during Ramadan will be offered for students to enjoy.

Through visuals, artifacts and information, visitors will learn about Ramadan’s impact on both individuals and communities. By exploring how Ramadan is observed worldwide, the exhibit encourages empathy, cross-cultural engagement and meaningful conversations. For more information, contact librarian Sarah McDaniel at sarahmcdaniel@mail.fresnostate.edu.
