Agricultural Policy Summit to focus on California’s energy transition

The Maddy Institute will host its third annual Agricultural Policy Summit from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.,on Feb. 25, at Fresno State’s Resnick Student Union, focusing on California’s transition to renewable energy sources and the implications of this shift for agriculture in the Central Valley and across the state.

This year’s summit, sponsored by Golden State Clean Energy, will feature opening remarks from Connie Conway, Farm Services Agency executive director, followed by a series of moderated panel discussions examining how California’s energy production and the state’s agricultural industry coexist. The summit will conclude with remarks from Karen Ross.

“As energy policy continues to shape the future of farming and food production in our region, this conversation will be especially timely and impactful,” said Blake Zante, executive director of The Maddy Institute. “The summit provides a space for informed, nonpartisan discussion on how state and federal policies affect working lands and rural communities.”

Each year, the summit brings together more than 200 participants, including industry leaders, policy experts, legislative staff, university faculty and community members to focus on the most pressing issues facing California agriculture.

The summit is free and open to the public. Register online at https://california-energy-and-agriculture-summit.eventbrite.com. The event will also be livestreamed on The Maddy Institute’s YouTube channel.
