Wall Street Journal ranks Fresno State among best colleges

Fresno State is ranked No. 32 nationally in The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse 2026 Best Colleges rankings published Sept. 29. That’s an improvement over last year, when the university ranked No. 51 overall.

The Wall Street Journal rankings focus on how well colleges set their graduates up for financial success. In other categories, Fresno State ranked No. 5 for social mobility, No. 20 for Best Value, No. 29 for student experience and No. 88 for best salaries.

Earlier in September, Fresno State tied at No. 30 for social mobility in U.S. News and World Report’s 2026 rankings. In August, Fresno State was ranked the No. 2 university among all public and private schools nationwide in Washington Monthly’s new ranking of Best Colleges for your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars.
